Hey guys! Sorry I was inactive for about half a year! (I HAVE FAILED! *thumbs up*)
So, during this 6 or so months I was inactive from this, I got onto the Pokemon VG (Video Game) series. (To you TCG fans, I'll still do TCG posts, but the VGC will be part of this Pokemon section.)
If you play Pokemon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire, you play (or are about to) competitively, know about the new 2016 Restricted format, and need a new team, then this might work for you.
Lately, most teams are using at least one of either Primal Pokemon as one of their restricted Pokemon. This is because the stat changes and the Abilities with increased power (Primordial Sea or Desolate Land), they can easily have a have a good chance against other restricted Pokemon. Most strategies these days are with specific other restricted Pokemon with a Primal. These are Kyogre/Rayquaza, Groudon/Xerneas, and Groudon/Yveltal .
The Kyogre/Rayquaza mix has the Kyogre normally learning Origin Pulse, Ice Beam, Protect, and either Water Spout or Thunder. Rayquaza normally learns Dragon Ascent, one of Extreme Speed, Draco Meteor, and Waterfall, Protect, and another of those 3. Since Rayquaza has a 4x weakness to Ice, a Fire-type is included. Ferrethorn with Gyro Ball is for Rayquaza's Fairy weakness. A Ground-type and an Electric-type are recommended for K/R's Electric weaknesses, and the Electric type attack is to deal with a Thundurus, who is immune to Ground-type attacks.
Groudon/Xerneas consists of Groudon learning any powerful moves it should know, and Xerneas should consist of Geomancy, Dazzling Gleam, Moonblast, and Protect. This team also consists of a Smeargle knowing Dark Void and Spiky Shield. The other 3 Pokemon are whatever the player wishes.
The Groudon/Yveltal team consists of the Groudon knowing Fire Punch, Protect, Eruption, and Precipice Blades. The Yveltal mainly knows Knock Off, Sucker Punch, Protect, and Foul Play. The other 4 Pokemon mainly know Dark-type attacks, boosted by Yveltal's Dark Aura. A Pokemon with Skill Swap may be included to be an emergency Dark Aura Pokemon.
One more strategy being used these days is a Kyogre/Groudon team, the one I am using. Because both Primals hold such power, this team doubles that. Most have Thundurus (Incarnate) and a Salamence in the team. Thundurus knows Taunt, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, and Protect . Salamence tends to know Tailwind, Hyper Voice, Double-Edge, and Protect. The moves of Kyogre and Groudon vary depending on the user. This team can also have a Mega Pokemon, as Primal isn't Mega.
These are not the only strategies out there, so a different destructive trend may still be waiting to be made.
Good luck, Pokemon Video Gamers!
