Lots of people don't play Pokémon, but it's very popular and most people constantly play it. There are many reasons to play it. Here are my top 5 reasons.
1) Pokémon is an easy and exciting to play. Here are the top few:
-It was introduced in 1995 and has been growing ever since.
-The most popular place to play it is Japan or the USA.
-There's no gender- or religion-specific parts.
-Pokémon can be played at any age, but they recommend ages 6 and up.
-There's a Championship Series, consisting of 3 regionals, City, State, National, and of course, Worlds.
2) One of the favorite challenges are that Pokémon have different varieties. Many Pokémon come as Basic Pokémon, Stage 1, or Stage 2. Pokémon also includes Restored, Mega Evolution, Pokémon-EX, and a type of card coming out, BREAK Evolution. Basics are the one you can directly play into the game. These are normally 30 HP to 80 HP. Some Pokémon are basics as they are Legendary Pokémon, such as Deoxys, Yveltal, and Groudon. Pokémon-EX are also Basics, but that is a different story. Stage 1 Pokémon are ones that Evolve from their original basic, making them stronger. All Evolved Pokémon have more HP, sometimes new types, and different attacks. Evolved Pokémon, also known as Stage 1's and Stage 2's, don't keep their original attacks, unless you have the stadium card "Shrine Of Memories" in play, or if your Pokémon has an Ability. Abilities, in red text, are things that you can do without ending your turn. Abilities, unlike attacking, can be used from any Pokémon in play that can use it in it's current position, and you can use as many as you need or want. Attacks, on the other hand, use Energy and end your turn. Stage 2 Pokémon are the most powerful, next to Pokémon-EX, BREAK Evolution, Mega Evolution, and Legendary Pokemon. They Evolve from their corresponding Stage 1 and have some of the most powerful blows. They normally do at least 100 damage or so, unless they have a powerful effect. Stage 2 are the rarest non-EX and non-BREAK cards. Pokémon-EX have higher HP, but are worth 2 prize cards. They have powerful attacks that inflict loads of damage and have great effects. They do some great power shots, ranging from hit-and-run (a favorite), choice of damage, or high damage, but self-damage. Mega Evolution are also EX's, as they evolve from a corresponding EX. Mega cards are the most powerful, as they have the most HP (next to Wailord-EX) and the most powerful attacks. In Primal Clash, Primal Reversion was introduced, but it is the same as Mega Evolution, but just a different name to it. Pokémon BREAK are just the old Pokémon, but with another attack and maybe more HP.
3)Booster Packs! You can buy several sets with booster packs in them. Booster packs each hold 10 random cards from a series, or 7 in Double Crisis. These are one of the best ways to get cards.
4)Trading! You can trade cards with your friends if you feel that it is fair.
5)Decks! Each player needs to have a deck of 60 cards to play. This is fairly random, and is a great way to find strategies!
Pokémon only has one downside: losing concentration at times. This is because people think about it too much, which is a very rare event.
I would say that Pokémon is a great game to play, in my opinion, and there are endless possibilities in playing it!
