- There are a lot of ways to have advantages in Pokémon TCG. Here are just a few.
1) Have a few EXs in your deck, in a range of 1 through 5. Also, keep a minimal amount of evolved Pokémon, as they give a problem to this skill. Keep about 10 to 14 Pokémon, because that is the perfect range for good damage against your opponent. Keep a lot of Pokémon that give your opponent's Pokémon Special Conditions, such as XY's Inkay and Malamar, who tend to confuse the foe or discard cards in your opponent's hand.
2) Keep about 12 to 16 Energy cards, as you need some to attack, but keep your amount of Energy cards in that range since you don't want to use up too much deck space. Also, use Special Energy cards whenever you can.
3) Use a lot of Trainer cards. They can turn the tables in your favor, from helping you (Professor's Letter), or disrupting your opponent (Fairy Garden, Magnetic Storm). Trainer cards are said to be the base of decks, so place 5 stadiums, 7 supporters, and the rest Item Cards (Include 3 Pokémon Tools). This will give you an overload of trouble for your opponent, giving them less power to attack you
